- There are two dubs. The original from 1948 and the second from 1968.
- The original dub, like most dubs at the time, did not dub the songs. It also deviated from the original English script for a more free translation. The second dub is a more faithful translation to the English version and translated the songs.
- All official VHS releases from the 1990s have the original dubbing. Whereas unofficial VHS releases like the Eclecta release, have the second dubbing instead. Additionally, the unofficial releases remove Walt Disney from the intro and outro cards. In the early-1990s, it was believed that the pre-1950s films were in the public domain and various companies like Eclecta released their videocassettes to stores believing that these films were in the public domain. Most of their masters were taken from cinema prints. Bambi's print wasn't in the best shape. Disney sued Eclecta and other unlicensed distributors for unauthorized distribution.
- For the 1992 VHS release, Disney teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Italian branch and included a postcard inside to save the Sardinian deer from extinction in the wild. (source : L'Unità)
