Trivia :
- Premiere : 11/23/1994
- - IMAX Version : 12/27/2002 (Zulu version not shown)
- -- 3D Version : 08/26/2011
- This is the only Disney animated film to be dubbed into Zulu and is also the only Disney film to be dubbed into an African language other than Arabic.
- The Lion King was the first time a Disney film was given a special local dubbing. This dub was made as a tribute to where the animators got their inspiration for the film. This wouldn't happen again until Moana in 2016.
- Many of the dubbers were locals that were handpicked to play the roles.
- To find the voices of Young Simba and Nala, a contest was held to cast the voices at a local school. The winners were chosen to dub Simba and Nala.
- The King Goodwill Zwelithini and Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi were invited to attend the premiere but declined.
- The 2002 extended edition was not dubbed in Zulu, meaning "The Morning Report" song was undubbed in Zulu.
- The Zulu dub was not included on the 2003 VHS/DVD release. It was only included on the 1995 VHS release and the 2011 Blu-Ray/DVD release.
