Trivia :

  • Premiere of the first dubbing : 05/20/1990 (Cannes Film Festival)
  • - Nationwide release : 11/28/1990
  • Premiere of the second dubbing : 07/01/1998
  • There are two European French versions of this film. The first from 1990 and the second from 1998.
  • Boris Roatta ( Flounder in the first dub ) was tragically killed in a automobile accident in 1994.
  • The second dub was created for the 1998 cinema re-issue as well as VHS & DVD release. This dub received many criticisms for dialogue choices. 
  • Fans created a petition to receive the original dubbing on the DVD release. The petition succeeded and the original dub was included on the 2006 Platinum Edition DVD and all releases afterwards.
  • As a result of the petition, the 1998 dub was only included on the 1998 VHS and the first DVD release.
  • The second dub reuses the original recording of Poor Unfortunate Souls as Micheline Dax refused to rerecord it.
