- Premiere in Gothenburg / Malmö / Borås / Gävle / Helsingborg / Jönköping / Karlstad / Kristianstad / Norrköping / Uddevalla / Uppsala / Västerås and Örebro : 12/07/1974
- Premiere in Luleå / Skövde and Umeå : 12/14/1974
- Re-release : 12/02/1983
- In accordance with Swedish censorship policies, in order to be approved for children, the following scenes were censored from the film during the premiere. Scenes include Stormy rhino from the front, oncoming guards, oncoming guards against Robin Hood, and the fire in the castle tower. These scenes were restored for the 1983 re-release and for all the Swedish home media releases and TV showings of the film. Source
- Ingvar Kjellson (Prince John) and Sven Lindberg (Sir Hiss) recorded their lines together. (Source : Doreen Denning interview)
- In the scene where Robin Hood disguises himself as Nutsy to fool the Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood was dubbed by Hans Lindgren instead of Jonas Bergström.
- An LP was released in 1974 alongside the film. This record contains new narration from Rolf Bengtsson (voice of Alan-A-Dale) but the voices are from the 1974 film dubbing. There is also a re-print pressing from 1976.
- The 1983 re-release was issued with Mickey's Christmas Carol.
- On the 1985 rental VHS and the first sale VHS from 1989, the credits are presented in English. The 1994 VHS release was the first release to restore the Swedish credits.
- Until 1987, the Swedish rental VHS releases could also be sold to private individuals by stores approved by Walt Disney Home Video / Select Video. This included the 1985 rental VHS release of Robin Hood.
- For the 1985 rental release, it was reprinted in the mid-1980s through 1990. The way to tell is through the anti-piracy stickers on the back. During the first release in 1985, there were no stickers. During 1986-1987, it was the gray glossy Sorcerer Mickey Mouse and the latest "Home Video" sticker which was also on the 1986 rental VHS release cover of The Sword in the Stone. And during 1988-1990 there was a gray anti-piracy sticker with a movie camera on all Swedish rental and sale Disney VHS releases from 1988-1992 distributed by Egmont Film AB. But on the cassettes with Egmont Film VHS tape label, it is the same video program from 1985 by Select Video AB (same warning texts, same Walt Disney Home Video logo. and same trailers after the main film.)
- In early promotional materials (such as the inlay advertisements from The Jungle Book 1993 VHS), the 1994 VHS was given cover art that was different from the final version. This cover art design would ultimately be used for the 1994 Dutch VHS and 1994 Belgian French VHS.
- In a yearly tradition since 1974, clips from the film would be shown during the special "From All of Us to All of You" on Christmas. But in 1998, the clips were removed from the special on SVT (Sveriges Television) as the contract to show Robin Hood during the special had expired. Aside from that, the clips have been shown on the special since 1974. The clips were shown again on Christmas 1999. The film was shown in whole on the channel TV3 on Christmas 1999 and was also shown on Christmas 2000, 2001, and 2002.
I would like to thank Leo Löfgren Roberts for sending me his materials for this entry. :)
