Trivia :
- There are two French versions of this film. The first from 1985 and the second from 1998.
- Interestingly, the first dub was released on VHS / DVD in many French speaking territories including Belgium and Quebec but never France.
- The first dub was not released on home media in France as there was a « right of exploitation » issue with the dub.
- The second dub was only available in France until 2010.
- In the second dub, many of the voices from the first dub return but not as their original characters with the exception of Perette Pradier (who dubbed Orddu.)
- *The DVD credits for the 1998 dub lists Fflewddur twice. Once as Ritournel and again as Fflewddur. Serge Lhorca voiced him in the first dub.
- In the first dub, Princess Eilonwy was called Éloïse; while in the second dub, she was called Eilonwy.
- The 1998 France Laserdisc release is the most common Laserdisc release of this film. The Black Cauldron was not released on NTSC Laserdisc for unknown reasons.
