Trivia :

  • Premiere : 12/19/1959

  • Re-release : 09/11/1995 (with the second dubbing)
  • There are two Swedish dubs of this film. The first from 1959 and the second from 1980.
  • The first dubbing was recorded during February 1959 and was completed during the summer of 1959.
  • The 1959 starred a lot of Swedish celebrities, most notably Gustaf Molander (narrator), Gustaf Molander was a well known director known for his work with Ingrid Bergman and Gösta Ekman in the early days of the Swedish movie industry, Gustaf Molander directed a couple of international blockbusters like Intermezzo.
  • As of this writing, the 1959 dub is lost and no extracts from it have surfaced to this day. The Swedish Film Institute in Stockholm does not have a copy in their archives.
  • The scene where Prince Philip fights Maleficent as a dragon was shown with the 1959 dub during the From All of Us to All of You Christmas special from 1969-1970.
  • The second dub started recording during the Winter of 1979 and was completed in the Spring of 1980.
  • The 1980 dub is the widely known dub and is available on all Swedish home media releases.
  • On the 1988 rental VHS, the censored version was shown. Shots censored from the film include Prince Philip being captured by Maleficent's goons and the close-up shots of Prince Philip fighting Maleficent (as a dragon.)
